Spanish Holiday Villas – Try Inland Andalucia

Spanish Holiday Villas La Nava - Ermita de San Isidro

Spanish Holiday Villas. I’m not knocking the Costa del Sol, there are some great places to visit. But, why not look further inland? There are advantages to choosing a rural villa.

  1. Prices, generally, are lower further inland from the coast. Menu del Dia (Menu of the Day) can be as little as 7€ in some places. That’s 3 courses and a drink thrown in (Not thrown literally!)
  2. There is less people walking about the place smelling of sun tan lotion and wearing flip-flops and football shirts.
  3. Prices of villa rentals are, in general, lower than on the coast, you get more for your money.
  4. The connections are very good. Getting around is no problem.
  5. No touts or “Lookie-lookie” men trying to flog you all sorts of rubbish.

There are more things to attract you to a rural villa but that list will do for a start.

La Nava – Rural Location

Cortijo La Nava is situated in a rural setting. 3 minutes to the motorway and 3 minutes to the village of Villanueva del Trabuco. The nearest restaurant is two minutes drive away and you have the choice of a dozen or so great places to eat all within a few minutes drive.

El Cortijuelo has two restaurants, these are run by two families,  Farmin Martin Allyon and The Brothers Romero. The food is exceptional, the tapas are free with a drink and the service is great. These two eateries are also excellent places to go and watch the football.

El Cortijuelo is about 2 miles from La Nava. Closer than that is La Cruce. This again is a good place to stop for a drink and a tapas and the menu del dia is also worth trying. Pass La Cruce and you are into the village of Trabuco. here you will find some great bars and cafes and also a Pizzeria that does take-away meals of all types.

Plaza Mayor, the main square, has cafe / bars and the Pizzeria. These are great places for a coffee and watching the village go about its business. There is a nice fountain in the middle with the mountains as a beautiful backdrop.

The Plaza also has an indoor market. Here you will find 3 fresh fish stalls, a butcher and fruit and veg counters.

Go across the river and you will find a fantastic restaurant, in my opinion, the best in the area. The meals are top class, great services, free tapas and good prices.

And there is more!

Walk around the village and you will find many butchers, bakeries, shops, bars and people playing dominoes. You’ll find all sorts of places for a meal or a drink.

The other great thing about the location of La Nava, you are 3 minutes to the motorway. Granada to the right, Malaga, the Costa del Sol to the left. The Sierra Nevada Ski slopes are an hour away. Its an almost straight drive to Granada.

Getting to the Costa del Sol is even easier now, there is a new toll road that will get you to the coast in 30 minutes. Once there, you have the options of Nerja, Torrox, Malaga, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Puert Banus, Marbella and many more great places to visit.

Golfers will be in heaven; there are more than 50 golf courses along the Costa del Sol, and, with the good weather, you have plenty of golfing time to get into.

For a great Spanish vacation, try inland from the coast. You will really enjoy the true Spain, the people and great places. Real Spanish holiday villas for real Spanish holidays.
